Yeah, with how Scrappy was  recently depicted in the "Scooby Doo Apocalypse" comic, as well as times he is just "mentioned" in the actual cartoons as someone the Gang wants to be forgotten, I noticed that Scrappy Doo never really had a proper send off from the franchise. Spent a whole decade as part of Mystery Inc, saving the overall franchise from being canceled by low ratings, and he never got a proper send off. Just basically forgotten and never to be brought back again... until the infamous Live Action movie shoe-horned him in just so he can be depicted as a jerk (as well as almost everyone ELSE in the Gang in that movie) where he was the villain who is easily knocked away by the Uncle he admired and respected... then hauled off to jail while almost saying a naughty word....

And it wasn't until a few days ago that I realized something.

The WHOLE purpose of the movie was that it was suppose to be the ACTUAL send off for Scrappy Doo. What better way for a character representing the worst of Scooby Doo be a obnoxious jerk that the gang leaves at the road side, who then comes back soul sucking villain on the big screen and ultimately never seen again? Yeah. The movie has 2 "farewells" for Scrappy Doo.  of course, the movie broke the seal of silence about him and Scrappy is FINALLY being mentioned once in a awhile in the franchise after that, but only as that "thing we we agreed to never talk about", meaning that the gang must have literally abandon Scrappy like the movie. They never try to bring him up in a positive way. And as of now, The Apocalypse Scrappy is pretty much EXACTLY the Movie Scrappy. Not sure if they will try something new the character, make him redeemable, or just go out as a tool/villain.

I have heard rumors from at least one poorly edited fan-wiki and a commentator, :iconsamtastic-v3:, that the movie originally tried to bring back Scrappy in a better light... but was pretty much fell through.

So yeah... as now, the Scooby Doo franchise seems okay to dump on the annoying fad inducing puppy with contempt, and even if you are a Scrappy hater (which I whole heartly understand); you can't just say that is a good thing.

It makes a very simple and basic cartoon that lasted for so long have a dark and rather mean-spirited aspect to it. I can only hope that somehow, the little puppy can have a decent farewell and not be remember as a butt of all jokes heel...
